White House Decries 'Democratic Hoax' as Additional Jeffrey Epstein Photos Made Public
House Democrats have published a additional set of what they termed "disturbing" photographs from the property of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, featuring notably Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The opening batch of 19 images—some of which have been seen before—along with another 70 issued later on Friday represent a minuscule portion of the almost 100,000 images provided to the House oversight committee, which is examining the actions and ties of Epstein.
The disgraced financier died by apparent suicide in a New York prison cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking offenses.
High-Profile Individuals in the Images
Among the notable figures seen in the first release are public figures such as movie maker Woody Allen; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, originator of the Virgin conglomerate.
Donald Trump is featured in three of the first nineteen images. In one, he is seen with six women, whose faces are obscured.
Administration Response
The White House addressed the release in a statement, alleging Democrats of purposefully "hand-picking" the photographs for political purposes and to "seek to establish a false account."
"That partisan falsehood against President Trump has been consistently disproven," an administration official said, asserting that "the current government has achieved more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats ever have by consistently demanding transparency, disclosing thousands of pages of documents, and calling for further investigations into Epstein's Democrat friends."
Democratic Lawmaker Comment
The photos were published without context, but as stated by a California Democrat and senior member of the oversight committee, they elicit additional doubts about Epstein's associations with wealthy individuals.
"It is time to halt this White House obfuscation and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," he stated in a statement.
The publication of these documents comes as the House panel pressing on with its inquiry into the Epstein case.
