Six Suspects Apprehended Following €12M Armed Raid on Precious Metals Facility in France

Six armed perpetrators equipped with high-powered firearms detonated charges to break into a precious metals processing plant located in the city of Lyon, slightly injuring five staff members during what is being called the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to affect France.

The bold operation took place on Thursday afternoon, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the individuals believed responsible and recovering the stolen goods valued at approximately €12 million (£10.5M), officials reported.

Five staff members of the gold refining company received light wounds as a result of the detonation, and three individuals were transported to hospital for evaluation, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight workers were inside the facility when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, considered career criminals, were detained a brief time later in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, France, according to investigative sources.

A woman involved who took part in the heist was taken into custody as well, according to law enforcement.

“Six suspects who utilized explosives in an assault targeting a gold refining facility in the Lyon area were arrested at the scene,” France's security official declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were recovered as well.
