A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by three individuals, one of whom shot at him before running away.

Police indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the implementation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, according to reports.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," a police statement said.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocked hair and wearing what resembled a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the assault.
Important clues, like spent shells, were found at the scene.
