Football Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.

In the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' new record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have two children, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football side," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno was previously Forest coach.

So, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

My son advised me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

Fulham have got lots of talent in their team but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

However I am not do that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be extremely eager for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
