Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
