Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A senior representative commented the attack made him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
